Great places to eat out in Armidale

The following are a selection of the terrific places available for all tastes whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. We recommend you head to the Armidale mall and stroll under the leafy trees and sample some of the local cafes.

The Armidale Bowling Club:

92-96 Dumaresq Street, across the road from the Club Motel. The Bowling Club offers a large variety of meals, from casual to fine dining.

    1. Café 92
      Open from 9am till late. If you just want a snack, the café offers a wide range of teas and coffees, as well as hot chocolates, milkshakes etc, freshly made toasted sandwiches and a variety of homemade biscuits, available all day.
    2. Main Bar and Lounge:
      Open every day from 9am till 12am, for lunch and dinner. There is wheelchair access and a large seating area. The family friendly Restaurant offers a very reasonably priced menu, with extensive choices for both lunch and dinner, and includes vegetarian and gluten free meals. Great family dining.

The Wicklow Hotel:

87 Marsh Street. Next door to the Motel.

The Wicklow offers a family friendly night out, with an extensive, reasonably priced family dinner menu. They also provide a room with children’s entertainment, so parents can continue to relax after their meal. Outside seating is available, and they have live music on weekends.

Rene on the Mews:

24-30 Moore Street, near the Mall.

This Licensed Bistro Restaurant offers gourmet food and drinks, and pride themselves on using locally sourced products. They offer an all-day breakfast and gourmet sandwiches, mains and desserts, as well as a variety of drinks – including a range of alcoholic drinks. Their menu has a distinctive French influence, created by internationally acclaimed French Chef, RenePauvert.

Bistro on Cinders:

14 Cinders Lane, near the Mall.

Open from 8-30am – 2-30pm, for breakfast and lunch. This restaurant is now under new management, and will be called Bistro on Cinders-Asian Fusion. This is a small, cosy restaurant which offers – as well as a dining room – a court yard for outside dining in warmer weather. It will now offer an Asian style menu. Because of its size and popularity, it is highly recommended to book beforehand.

Ten Koo:

175 Beardy Street – in the Mall.

Open 9am – 2pm. This Japanese restaurant offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. You can dine in as well as order takeaways – and they are well known for their high quality, inexpensive meals. They also have a selection of Japanese groceries for sale.

MunHing:

236 Beardy Street.

This Chinese restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, and offers a wide variety of delicious, reasonably priced meals. You can even order online!
