**Christmas in the Mall – Thursday 1st December

VENUE: Central Mall, Beardy Street.

TIME: 5.00-10.00pm.

Bring the family along to enjoy the spirit of Christmas with the Christmas Tree in the mall. Santa and his elves will be there; there will also be a variety of market stalls, and live music.  The surrounding shops will stay open throughout.

**Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Keeping Place Exhibitions – 1st to 23rd December

VENUE: Aboriginal Cultural Centre & Keeping Place, 96-104 Kentucky Street.

TIME: 9.00am-4.00pm.

Exhibitions:

Christmas Toy Exhibition – This is an exhibition of native animals, including koalas, kangaroos, kookaburras, emus, dingoes, wombats, quolls, bilbies, echidnas and Tasmanian tigers.

There will also be dolls made by Aboriginal elders from Uralla and Armidale.  This exhibition is a great opportunity to purchase great Australian gifts in time for Christmas.   

Nothing Over $300 – This annual exhibition feature works from 25 Aboriginal artists from various communities.  Experience a variety of NSW Aboriginal art at its best

Walcha – Aboriginal Significant Sites (Black and White Photography)The Photography Club, which meets monthly, visited Walcha significant sites, the Aboriginal cemetery and the carved tree at the Walcha Pioneer Cottage Museum.  This exhibition features photos taken during the trip.

**NERAM Exhibitions Programme – Throughout December, except Mondays

VENUE: New England Regional Art Museum, 106-114 Kentucky Street.

TIME: 10.00am-4.00pm.

An amazing line-up of exhibitions:

Views of Landscape – This is a collection of paintings depicting the landscape in different eras, by various artists, from NERAM’s collections.  They have been inspired by the land, the ocean, and the city.

I do love paint: Euan Macleod – This small exhibition from the NERAM collection is the works of New Zealand-born artist, Euan Macleod, and includes portraits, landscapes, and other paintings.

Kangaroos in My Blood – This exhibition includes works by New England artists, depicting the relationship between rural Australia and the Kangaroo.

Warakurna – All the stories got into our minds and eyes – These are paintings from the artists of the Ngaanyatjarra lands in Western Australia (300km west of Uluru). The paintings tell the story of their history, from the coming of white explorers, building the roads, and their return to their homeland.

Ephemera – the art of the impermanent – This exhibition includes a range of works by five eco-artists: Andrew Parker (ceramic artist), Gabi Briggs and Amy Hammond (artists and weavers), Greer Taylor (sculptor and poet), Tanja Beer (eco scenographer). You can meet them at the opening.

**Booloominbah Open Day -Sunday 4th December

VENUE: Booloominbah @ UNE

TIME: 10am – 4pm

COST: free

You can view the University’s private art collection, with over 1,000 artworks, including a diverse range of paintings, drawings, watercolours and prints.  The exhibition will include works by renowned Australian artists Arthur Streeton, Norman Lindsay, Thea Proctor, Russell Drysdale and William Dobell.

This is an opportunity not to be missed.  There will also be live music, complimentary cake and tea, and hands-on science activities for the kids.

A shuttle bus will depart every 30 minutes from the Visitor Information Centre to Booloominbah from 10am.

**Uralla & District Kennel Club Championship Show – Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th December

VENUE: Armidale Tourist Park, 39 Waterfall Way (enter from Cookes Road).

TIME: 9.00am-3.30pm.

This will include a variety of dog shows and events (including working dogs, hounds, gundogs, non-sporting) – and will include competitions.
